With California going to only non-toxic ammo I am thinking of going with either 100grain cutting edge or 100 grain Barnes ttsx.The gun is a 700 bdl from Red Hawk with a factory 26 barrel.
Questions -what are you thoughts/results from either of these bullets and any pet loads?

I have fired a bunch of 100 TSX and killed a bunch of critters from 50 yards to 600 yards. I use 72 gr. of RE 22 and a CCI 250 primer. Super accurate and yes speed does kill! As always work your loads up that is MAX for my rifle.

R25 worked the best for me with the ttsx, my 257 had killed an arch of game and done it fantastically.

Using that exact recipe, I have shot a boatload of critters, from coyotes to elk. Recently tried the TTSX, and it's maybe a tad bit more acccurate than the 100 gr. TSX, with a bit better BC to boot.

I am starting to see a pattern.Any idea of the speed you are actually getting?

I have been using the 100 gr. TSX for the past 8 years for Antelope, Deer and have also taken 2 Elk with it. Loading 72 gr. of IMR 7828 at 3650 FPS, consistently shoots SUB MOA at 100 yards. I don't recall having to shoot more than one shot at any of the animals I have taken.

There isn't that much info on hunting with Cutting Edge bullets. JB reported using a Cutting Edge bullet in a .22 250, IIRC, on Pronghorns. May want to do a search on that one.

The 100 tsx is a proven bullet for the 257 weatherby for everything up to elk in my book. 71.5gr. RL22 at about 3500 out of a 24" barrel does the trick. I don't need to mess with a Cutting edge bullet, unless someone gives me some.

As in if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

72.0 gr. of RL22 pushes 100 gr. TSX and TTSXes at 3700 fps out of my 26" barreled MkV.

Should smoke most any thing...

Seems like RL22,Rl25,and 7828 will be a good place to start.Now just need to find some.

I use the Cutting Edge tipped bullet in my 7-08. It is by far the most accurate bullet in the 7-08. I have only had a chance to kill but one antelope and one mule deer with the Cutting Edge. It was devastating. Great expansion and complete penetration.

Have shot a few deer with the 100gn tsx out of a vanguard none have gone farther than 20yds. Tsx/ttsx seem to shoot well for most and works well on game. Not easy to find in factory ammo but if you reload shouldn't be a problem. I have looked and haven't seen any of the .257 weatherby tsx factory ammo around in a while.

Thanks for the info.Going to try the ttsx and the cutting edge (MTH and Raptor)and see what the gun likes.Talked to CE and he was recommending the 90 grain Raptor in the bee out to 500yards.

Well just finished with the bedding of the new Edge stock and putting a Zeiss 3x15 on the rifle.First reports are one ragged hole with the Barnes and the best group so far with the cutting edge is around a inch both with the 7828 ssc.
