Curious if anyone here knows the answer to a question a friend asked me.

I know Browning made the first 20ga Superposed in 1946. Were those guns 3" chambers and if not, when did they start 3" chambers?

I just picked up a 1957 manufactured model and it is 3". Mine is the RKLT and is in very nice used condition.

Thanks....

The first Superposed were not three inch chambers. If I remember correctly the first 3" 12 GA. came out in 1956. I think the 20 GA. 3" was about that time and the 28 and .410 came out in 1960.

Grouse hunting Bud has the same one. Hard to find anything that points as quickly. Nice grab.

Belgian Brownings: Finest shotguns and rifles ever manufactured in MHO. I don't believe you'll ever again see the hand-craftsmanship that was poured into these firearms. (Like a fine violin), Too bad the saltwood fiasco derailed them. Angelo Bee's name will live on in perpetuity.

I loved the pre-schnable forend Superlites!

Not sure what you mean by derail, the Superposed is still being made in Belgium as a hand made custom shop item in all the original grades. Expensive, but they always were.

As far as the salt wood, they should have taken care of it under warranty. From what I remember, they will as long as you can prove you are the original owner.

The salt has had enough time to do its work. You can buy an older one today and by looking be fairly safe in knowing if there is a problem. I've seen some with light rust that people avoided, thinking it was salt wood, when the truth was lack of care.

The one I mentioned above has light pitting, but it came from honest hard use. It was hunted in the rain, snow and whatever came its way for many years and still is. Time took its toil, but it still kills Grouse.
