So what to you think-with this warm weather, should we start shallow, or do you think the walleyes have all ready moved out from shore? We're fishing Lake Waconia. Your thoughts?

We tried everything from the shoreline out to 25 feet. Just couldn't get on the fish yesterday. Talked to one boat who said they got them shallow just after midnight.

The walleyes were generally sitting on the first emerging weedline adjacent to where the shiners annually spawn once the sun came up on the lake I always fish on opener. Before the sun came up they were up on the edge of the dead reeds. We had walleyes up to 24".

wish I had noticed your post before, tough lake for walleyes (live very close, fish other lakes for walleyes). But any day on the water is good.

I talked with my brother in Grand Rapids yesterday and he was telling me the local joke is: "Did you get your walleye?"......

Was on Kabetogama for the last 2 weeks. Caught a few walleye every day, so it was slow.
The smallmouth fishing is the best I have ever been in though. Limited out every day on 15-20" fish, with a handful of decent northern thrown in for good measure. All those were in shallow, and hit plugs of worms cast into the shore.

I fished Prior Lake yesterday. The walleyes were in about 14 ft. of water and biting aggressively. Only took home a couple, but had lots of action. Actually ran out of fatheads between the walleyes and the small bass. There was one other boat near me and he had a couple too-one looked to be about a 5 lbs. fish.
