Nothing special...just a 7mm Remington Magnum I had bedded in an Edge. Gene punched the factory tube and set up the magazine box to handle an OAL of 3.600

If I can get the 160 Partition sub MOA at 3200 FPS, load development will be complete.

That will work. For playing I'm going to try the 162gr. AMax at around 3200. But for hunting and cause I have a few. I'm thinking the 150gr. Partition at 3100-3200 will suite my needs well. Plus it's the same bullet I use in my 7-08. Shooters pro shop seconds here I come.

You bet Doug! Sharp rig!
Curious, did Gene open up the factory box, get a new (longer)factory one or use the Echols box/follower combo?

Les, you have a 700 correct? Most 70's have long actions set for 3.36" ish unless it's off a H&H or 300wby etc. those are 3.66" ish

Fotis thanks for the link! Good read over there on the Nosler forum, and looks like Beretz has the Mashburn getting some traction. Pretty much since I got it 5 years ago,my rifle has been operating at 3200+- fps with 75.5 H1000 and the 162 Amax, 160 NPT,and 160 BBC. Most everyone I know who has worked with the case gets these velocities with 160's. My pal runs his with the 160 AB with Retumbo at 3250 with no ill effects. We've noticed cases will quit from lack of annealing a long time before primer pockets open up and quit at these velocities. Anyway 3200 fps seems to be easily obtained with modern powders, and from a 24" barrel to boot.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

Thanks Bob, StrayDog.
I was in contact with Dober about borrowing his reamer. Turns out he was sending it to Gene to have a 700 barrel punched, so I hopped on board.

Your rifle looks GREAT!
Bet it'll shoot real well too. Mines a rechambered M70 and it is quickly becoming my favorite.

Yes sir nipping at the heels of the 7mm RUM/28 Nosler One nice part of the MSM I've found is it seems to be a very easy shooting rifle, even being 8.5lbs loaded. I enjoy it a ton. 24" barely is very handy as well. The RUM and 28 Nosler are more cartridge for sure, but I'd bet I'd want a decent bit more rifle for shoot ability of those two in order to really like them.
