2legit-

I have- fortunately I wasn't the killer. smile

A friend bow hunts the pipeline corridor. His freezer was overflowing so he gave me half his moose (near 60") killed Sept 25. It was better than the spike I had killed before rut and shared 3 ways...

The next year, he killed a nearly identical sized one on the 23rd. This one had been fighting, and came in so hard he arrowed it at 5 feet. Danged near in self defense. It had gore-wounds all over its body, infected, meat green. Our dogs wouldn't even touch it. We tried- in case we could donate it to a dog-musher.

He was smart enough to camera document the whole butchering process so got a pass from F&G to take it to the dump after the dogs turned it down. And my Lab will eat damned near any rotten old thing- but not that one!

The only true cost of having a dog is its death.
