Headed out in 5 days to go on a DIY spot and stalk bear hunt in SW Montana.

All the gear is around and I feel better prepared than I did for my first fiasco. Loaded out at 38lbs for a 5 day hunt. The wife will be going with me this time and her gear comes in at ~36 pounds rifle and all. Not an even distribution, but I do love her and all...

That includes food, water and spotting scope (damn heavy spotter). Add rifle and I am at ~46 total for everything. I'm pretty happy with that, considering my first trip was 68 pounds!

I'll give a full report when I return.

Meanwhile…I am open to last minute advice if there is any to be had!

-Dustin

Expect winter-like conditions. Been snowing here above 7,000'. VERY WET!

Good info…

May not be able to get where we planned. We do have a plan B and C and if all else fails the 'wing it' plan.

Thanks.

Hey good luck, stay safe and have fun. Look forward to the "follow-up" story.
It's always important to plan properly during our "global warming" period.

Hey Dustin,

I would love to know your gear list and weights so I can exercise my OCD while at work! smile

That 46 lbs with the rifle and everything impresses the heck out of me...

It's very hard to get below the mid 40's all up in the shoulder seasons without some major sacrifices; granted it's extra tricky when solo but good for you. Good luck, shoot a good one.
