My GSP is on Sentinel and Bravecto. I know it works because we spent a long weekend running the mountain, but I still spent every evening picking dozens of dead ticks off him.

I myself was covered in 90% Deet, under armor and rhino skin and a few still got through.

Has anyone had any luck with a tick repellent?

Seresto collar for the dog. They don't hang around very long and she hasn't had 1 tick since she started wearing it...

We just got Seresto collars for the dogs, my GSP and the wife's Maltese. Haven't seen any issues with the GSP, but the wife's leg biter got extremely lethargic and sickly. Took off the collar and that night she was better. Started reading reviews online, same thing. Think it depends on the dog the effects. Some reviews said it was great, other reviews said their dog couldn't wear it.

Years ago I had a flea collar on my Shorthair while Pheasant hunting in Idaho. The second day she just sort of gave out. Took her to a local Vet and she said take the flea collar off her. When they get wet they can knock a dog down. Next day she was her old self. Maybe the same can happen with other chemical collars.

Stopped using DEET 15 years ago. I use permethrin on my clothes. I mix a 1% solution from a concentrated solution I get at farmers COOP. Spray clothes and hang to dry. Stays in clothes for several washings. You can watch the ticks crawling up pant leg then drop off dead when using this stuff.
