Had a chance today to spend some time shooting the .22's. I took a long look at my .22 LR inventory and had to decide what was expendable for a plinking session. I had picked up some Winchester Subsonic several years ago and set it aside. Never reading any glowing reports about this ammo I figured what the heck let's use it up, though I did have some hope that it could be a useful squirrel round. Thinking I would test it in several rifles and determine which one liked it best I decided to stop with the first rifle I used it in. Nothing extraordinary but perfectly good for the intended game.

The first and only rifle I tried the Winchesters in was this CZ 452 American that I bought at Whittakers earlier this year. I had some delays getting the rifle set up and mounting this Leupold 4X as the bolt lift on this rifle is rather high. After learning about the DIP rail and Burris rings I was good to go. A pretty nice .22 rifle, though the trigger is as rough as a cob. My next project.

Nice rifle rest grin Looks like that will work in your rifle for tree rats.

Well I do need to address the trigger for sure. That tractor tire does come in handy.

I snagged a case of those sub-sonics before panic buying got under way. They shoot great in 8 out 10 of my squirrel killers.

Way to go getting a case. I was able to buy two bricks at the time.

They are fine for hunting or plinking. I get 50 yard groups like that with the mid to higher end Eley out of my CZ's.

A $20 YODAVE kit will remove 10 miles of rough road and fix that trigger.

+1 on the trigger kit...

Woods Walker, that is a fine looking combo.

A few years ago, i had accumulated quite a few points for free stuff at Bass Pro , and finally decided to go down and see what might be of use....this was "pre-panic" days when you could walk in and find all the .22 you wanted.

Redeemed the bonus points for a large pile of those Win SSHP's, and have shot quite a few squirrels with them since then. They seem to expand a bit more than some subs, and i leave a couple of squirrel rifles sighted with them.

Shush... don't let the word get out. That load is very accurate in several of my rifles and they hit squirrels with an audible "whop" and kill squirrels very sudden like.
