Don't need them now,but a LGS has 8 boxes (50 bullets each) of Hornady .375" 300 gr RN solids for $20 each, gonna offer $10 each as they have been there for over a year. The boxes look like they are from the 60's into the 80's.
Will these hold up to about 2750 fps out of a .375 RUM?
Also they have .375" 300 gr RNSP & 270 gr RNSP that I'm thinking of buying.

Depends on what you are gonna shoot them into.
Concrete: No.
Elephant Skull:might bend them a tad
Flesh/Bone: Yes.

Gonna use them for a Cow/PAC elephant and follow-up shots on Cape buffalo.
Thanks Ingwe.

What I recall is that the early ones were fine bullets then Hornady changed the design and it became a lesser bullet. I am sure a google search will find something on this. Where are you going to hunt, Zim?

Eventually yes Zimbabwe in the Zambezi Valley.
Craig Boddington wrote that Hornady changed the solids in 2000 or so,but changed it to the current solid (DGS) a few years later. These are (I'm guessing just by the way the boxes look) made in the 60's to the 80's.

The originals were steel jacketed, covered with a gilding metal wash. Test them with a magnet.
They had a good reputation for working.
The next generation were brass jacketed and quickly got a reputation of splitting, riviting and generally misbehaving. Avoid them.
The latest version is back to steel jacketed, but with a small flat nose.
Winchester rifles and Swarovski scopes.

Tested them and they stuck to the magnet.
All are Hornady except one.
Paid $12.00 a box for them all.
Got 8 boxes (all are 50 count ) .375" 300 gr Solid.
3 boxes .375" 300 gr RNSP.
1 box .375" 270 gr RNSP.
1 box (30 bullet count) Nosler .375" 300 gr Accubond.
Also found and bought a Weaver 2.5x scope for $20.
