What are some good options on rustproofing/undercoating for used trucks? Any deals from major companies? Ones to avoid? Do-it-yourself? Want more protection than regular washings. Thanks

For do it yourself, take a look at the Fluid Film kit. Click Here I haven't used it myself but it gets pretty good reviews.

Fluid Film looks like a great product. I was going to recommend the Rust o-leum undercoating. I used it on a trailer with good results.

Use POR15 or chassis saver on the frame .It will take prep work to last. Be careful using rubberized undercoatings. Rust can form under the coating. J C Whitney used to make a kit to do doors ,etc. It worked great on my 93 Toyota truck years ago.

Chassis Saver is supposedly the same thing as POR 15, but a little cheaper and a little easier to apply. I'm going to hit my frame with it this summer.

Thanks for the replies/tips. What type of prep work is needed? Would also like to rust-proof doors, below doors, fender wheel wells, cab corners, tailgate. Local dealer wanted $249 to undercoat,$249 rust-proof. Had a package that included interior & paint protection also for $799+ tax, 10 year warranty. 1 time application, no yearly re-apply.

The paint protection is a comyete rip off in my opinion. I would get a price for undercoatong and rustproofing from Ziebart if they are even still around. Rustproofing nplavtes have really all but dissapeared since most vehicles will go ten plus years corrosion free if washed underneath a few times per year and waxed a couple times per year. There are exceptions but we live in the Midwest and have a rust free 01 grand cherokee with 200 k on the clock. I would not rustproof a brand new truck myself. I am sure that the dealer would use it as an excuse to not honor the corrosion warranty.
