I've heard that there's another B-29 almost ready to take to the air. I dunno where they got the engines for it, as Fifi has the last "spare" engine available (or did, last time I saw her at an airshow outside Louisville). Spare tires are also a sore spot in the supply line, they just don't make them any more, and haven't for a very long time.
As with any of the warbirds, finding spare parts is the issue to keeping them flying. They made a LOT of Allison engines, and Merlins, and Wright Cyclones, but for some of the birds, parts aren't easy to obtain any longer. It's getting worse, too, not better.

I was under the impression that the F8F Bearcat didn't enter into USN and/or USMC service until May 1945 and were never flown in combat by U.S. forces.

BTW - Hussein Obama is visiting the Nike world HQ today, instead of honoring VE Day, the flyover, or anything else having to do with America. They ought to wait 'til he's in town before doing that.
