The internet lists a Cast and Blast Lodge located approx. 10 miles east of Longlac then south on Hwy 625 toward Caramat.

Apparently their specialties are black bear and fishing. Hope this helps.

thanks Jim--Longlac is about 65 miles east of me. Should be plenty of bears around Caramat with good walleye fishing. Pike too and plenty of lakers in Long Lake.

Looks like cast and blast are part of Horseshoe Hill outfitters or at least was. Not much info on the cast and blast website but the horseshoe hill website seems to have alot information on it. I emailed Bob who seems to be the owner of both to figure out what the deal with the two different names was. Im waiting on reply.

Evidently Horseshoe Hill Outfitters is booking hunts for Cast and Blast. That resort is under new management as it used to be Mckay Lake cabins--that resort has changed hands quit a few times in the last 40 years. That's not nessesarily a bad thing--sometimes the new guy is just starting out and he tries really hard.

You sometimes have to take advertising for what it is. On the Horseshoe Hill website they claim they have one of the biggest BMA's in Ontario (Bear Management Area), 171 sq klicks. That's not really very big--my BMA was 827 sq klicks before I got out of it and I was far from the biggest guy in this area.

There's lots of bears around McKay Lake and you won't have any trouble getting one but 400 lb bears are like 400 lb men--not a lot of them around. Fishing will be good also--Pike and Walleye
