Hi
Most of us that daily Carry either in a Holster or just stuffed in a Pocket have gun's that show the time of wear. I Myself like the Old style High Standard Derringer. They Lay Flat in your Pocket and I feel that in .22 Magnum Cartridge they will do the job of protecting myself should I need it to. They are also very accurate I can Hit the head area twice of a B-27 Target @ the 25 Yard Line with mine. That said I have had several High Standard derringer's in the past in Blued or satin Nickel finish and I came across this one by Doing a Job for a Guy and it was the Payment for the job so I just have some time invested in it. It came to me blued but very worn as shown so I decided that it needed a face lift, so I sent it off to Ford's Custom Gun refinishing in Florida. After Nine Month's it returned home Yesterday and it was well worth the wait. The barrel's are High Polished Nickel and the Frame is Brushed Nickel. This finish should wear well Opposed to Blued. If You are inclined to have your worn Looking Carry Gun refinished by Ford's Custom Gun Refinishing Just tell Them about my Nickel High Standard Derringer that you saw here for a 10 % discount on your refinishing needs or Tell them Kurt from Knoxville recommended them. Here are the Before and after Pictures of my High Standard derringer. Regards, The General

Very nice General.

I was just telling the ambulance story tonight.

And-You can hit a head at 25 yards with that thing?

Evidently, the General has started a trend down here in the southeast.

I'm thinking we wouldn't want the General shooting at us! For some reason I've always wanted one of those little High Standards in .22 Mag.

I have one just like it that I carried clipped to my vest when I was with Dallas PD. Back then one didn't used to have to qualify with a backup gun. That said I have no problem doing body shots at 25 yards with mine...

Beautiful update to your gun General...Bob

Just took a quick look at Gunbroker. I'm surprised at the money folks are asking for those little guns now. I haven't seen many around for a few years, but back then they were 150 - 200 dollar guns. Apparently, they are about double that now.

Of course, there is the difference between what folks ask and what they will take, but still.

Nice job on the refinish, but I'd have been itchy as hell waiting 9 months for my gun to come back.

My gun is aligned perfectly horizontally with both barrels but as I recall one barrel shoots higher than the other...but inside 7 yards where most selfdefense shootings take place it is of little consequence.

The guy on GunBroker with tons of the HS Derringers asks ridiculous prices for them. For a Magnum in good condition expect to pay $200-300.00.

Depending on the load, .22 Magnums from these guns will run 1200+ fps...

Our LGS has two for sale that look like new, one blue & one stainless, but they are asking $325 each, which is WAY more than they are worth, to me. I'd buy them, if they were $150 each, in a heartbeat.
But for $299, I can buy another Ruger LCP 380, which is a much more efficient BUG, to me.
Or even another Ruger SR-22 for $279.

Are you sure that one barrel doesn't shoot lower than the other?

Hello Crimson Tide
The High Standard Derringers are very High Quality Unlike some of the cheap Derringer's they are making today these High Standard's were made to last that is why they have such a High Retail Price these days. Waiting for High quality was Not a problem I have other guns to carry Ford's do great work on every Gun that they do....TheGeneral

Hi
All The Recent Talk about These High Standard Derringer's Prompted me to do some Research on them. Apparently these D-100 & D-101 Model Derringer's were made from 1962 time span up until july 1984 of which was when they made my Gun. The Frame of my Gun is made of aluminum which they used on the later Derringers to cut back cost and over all weight of the gun. Here is a Link that Tell's the History as well as the serial number's of when these fine Little Gun's were made, I hope you enjoy the Reading if you own one it's Cool to know when one was made....I Think Production was halted due to the factory using up existing parts and closing their doors for Business The General
