crossotter:
You have a noble cause there, fostering an interest and abilities in firearms for our youth.
BUT, you need to be a bit more specific as to what 22RF you plan to use and what level of investment and effort you want to put in to this project.
Below are some examples of sights used on .22's; from the simple to the more complex:
This is the Redfield made for .22's that have the milled in scope grooves on the receiver. Likely needs a higher front sight
This is the little Lyman 52 made for round receiver 22's. Needs D&T and likely a higher front sight bead.
This is the Williams WGR for a 22 with the scope grooved receiver. Needs higher front sight.
This is the Redfield 75 that was/is used on 22 Target rifles. Needs D&T for a receiver mount and a higher front sight. There is a Lyman equivilent – believe a 90??
This is an example of a front target sight; a Redfield 60 Series globe
I would look at the Lyman and Williams web sites and get familiar on what is avail as new sights. Redfield sights and components are no longer made, but found frequently on the internet sales/auction sites.
