I just bought some once fired brass. It has some burnt powder stains around the necks. With regular tumbling this staining is not coming off. Has this happened to anyone else here? How do you get these clean? Thanks, Rich

Carbon soot is like concrete, it hardens with time. Take some #0000 steel wool to it, that will polish it up.

I got some Never dull. Works like a champ.

A few rubs and a wipe and good as new.

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.

I added Red Rouge into my walnut media and then put just enough mineral spirits to dampen it. Keeps the dust down, and really cleans super. It will take off the carbon unless it is just horrible. Then I use the 4 ought steel wool too. Works like a charm.

Red Rouge is a buffing compound for use in polishing metal. It usually comes in red wax sticks for running onto a buffing wheel. But you can get just the powder itself. I got it off e-bay. I have the reciept still so I can put you in touch with the guy selling it. It was real cheap, and goes a long way. I had never tried it before, and was very impressed at how well it worked. The dirtiest brass comes out better than new in about an hour. Best stuff I have ever tried. T.
