From a post last Friday re: Help my bullet's falling...I posted a group from my Rem 243 SPS after my gunsmith (aka DAD) did a little work for me....

I was looking for some help with bullet drop out to 300 yrd because Saturday we were going to a 300 yrd shoot. With the help of you all, I was able to come up with this group at 300..

The small "cluster" came in at 1.22", with the overall group being 3.07". Danged ol' flyer! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />. This was the 1st time I had ever shot paper beyond the 100 yard mark. What and eye opener.
At any rate, I was tied for 1st with a 99 1X (however they score it) with this 13 year old kid, until the last group shot. This 87 year old with a Ruger Varmint (the flat gray ones with the beavertial stock) shooting factory Hornady ammo, just plain whooped us. Funny thing was, the ol' boy couldn't see where he was hitting on the target. He'd say "I can't see where I'm hitting" and his spotter would say "Just keep doing what you are doing." No doubt there.
I ended up in 3rd after a short shootoff with Aarron (the 13 year old). He was smart enough to play the wind, which had picked up as the morning sun warmed the air.
We had fun, made new friends, and I shot on paper at 300 yrds. Can't wait 'til next month when the range hosts a .22 rimfire handgun/rifle shoot. It ought to be fun too!
