Looking thru my bullet collection I noticed a couple boxes of this bullet. Are they as ricochet prone as the Sierra 52 gr. bthp match bullet? How do they act on varmints? Expand reliably?

My 22-250 absolutely will not shoot anything that light well enough to suit me and the 40 gr. Vmax was the first bullet I tried of the lightweights. It has a pretty long throat and a 1 in 12 twist. The lightest bullet it shoots with real accuracy is the Hornady 50 gr. SXSP. It is odd how a barrel will shoot sub 1/2 inch groups with one bullet and barely keep another inside three inches. The 52 gr. Sierra match bullet is my favorite hole maker in this 22-250 and I was thinking of taking the Hornady match bullet it on a prairie dog ventilating trip in the spring if it will not ricochet like the sierra. If not the Hornady SX 50 grain bullet will have to do all the dirty work again this coming spring.

I don't know about them ricocheting, but they are very accurate in my ruger. I bought a lot of reloading stuff from my FIL and he had several 100 rd boxes of them included. I loaded a box and shot them this fall, don't remember the load right now, but i shot under 1" pretty well, and I'm not a great shooter!
I'd assume they will ricochet much more likely than v-max or the like, though.
I'd say - if you've got some boxes, load em up!

If you don't miss, they don't ricochet grin
