Or however you spell it....

Anybody got a H335 load for a .223AI?

What kind of seating depth are y'all using?

Anything else to know?

I run about 26.5gr of RL15 with various moly-coated 75gr bullets. Yields roughly 3,000fps when seated on the lands in my 21" 223AI. That SSII has a long bearing surface, so I'd start a bit lower.

Same here, 26.5grs of RL15 gets me just shy of 3K from a 21" tube. I don't remember what the jump is but it ain't much, like around 20-30 thousandths.

I'm also running '15 with my 75gr Swifts.

26.6gr of '15 2975fps @ 21"

I'm not sure what my seating depth was. 2.400", I think. Put me about .025" of jump.

Superseal, did you get an exit wound on that buck? what angle was the shot?
Guess the range was pretty close.

This one weighed 156 pounds with all the insides out, so what's that about 195 live.

Quartering towards at @70 yards, went in at the point of the shoulder and exited on a rib. Deer went maybe 3 steps.

Didn't know blacktails were that heavy! That's about the average on a 3 year old buck in the hardwoods down here.
Lots around here over 225 if they get old enough. I guess if I keep my shots sub 150 on quartering I oughta get pass throughs on most angles. I'm running a standard 223. So I'm not moving as fast as you guys are. It's shooting ao well now I hate to take a chance and punch it AI and have trouble getting it to shoot.

Guess I could do some research, but those look more whitailish than mulie. Are they a whitetail subspecies or mulie?
Would love to get up there and catch some
steelhead and get a chance at a blacktail or two! Dream trip for me!
"Sportsmans Paradise" down here really kinda sucks if you really like big game hunting mostly here is just "sitting" and waiting for a wt deer to walk in the open. Not really my cup of tea. Not hunting at all really, more just shooting. And there isn't much scenery at all.
Nice pics!

The mule deer is a cross between blacktail and whitetail. Blacktail are their own species.

I know about Louisiana.

Do y'all find the load data with the swifts
and the amaxes totally interchangeable? I've
got the amax running great. Can I
use the same
recipe based on any of your experience. Remember this is a standard 223 with a really tight chamber.

Yes, I got an exit wound. Took the upper part of the heart off and turned the lungs into tomato soup. He didn't go more then 40yds before he tipped over.

Shot wasn't far, maybe 60-70yds.

A well place 75gr SSII or 55gr TSX or 62gr TSX ain't going to bounce off...

Hi Scott,

The 223AI is one wicked looking case. I am counting down the days when I have one.

The rifle in the photo is the one I've been looking for. I remember you posting a picture of the stock in another topic. I remember saying to myself, "that's the bumble-bee stock."

Would you give the specs on the rifle?

Secondly, what COL do you run the 75 Sciroccos?

Another inquiry if the 75 Amaxes loads are pretty well same for Sciroccos or need to back way off? Change in POI also?

I wind up swapping 62TSX for some stuff, then running the 75 Amaxes, then switching again....PITA.

But after moving up here, .224" not legal for dick really. Really wanted to see what the 223AI was all about on deer.

Please God, give me some good tags this year....

Same OAL, charge, primers, brass? Is there anything you do different when swapping swifts for Amaxes?
I've got a great Amax load and plenty of Swift's ready to go.
Thanks Steelhead.
