My search in the classifieds for a VX-3 is coming up dry, so I'll just order one. Before I pull the trigger, I want to see if I'm missing any sales or good deals out there from retailers right now. Looking for a VX-3 8.5-25x50 with the varmint reticle (model 66610).

I believe all the official retailers only sell at the Leupold standard prices.

That's a good point. If you do a Google search under that model and look at the shopping options, there are a wide range of prices. I am never sure which ones are legitimate and which should be cause for concern.

When I bought my VX 3 CDS 4.5X 14 Brunos shooters supply had the best price.

You should check samplelist.com as well, they have demos and used scopes for sale.

Rather than that, I think it's that the official retailers can only advertize Leupolds down to certain prices. What they can actually sell them at may (or may not) be less.

it is called a map price, manufacturer advertised price and they cannot advertise lower than that. that is why you will see a call for price and availability so they can give you the low price without getting their bal#s busted by the manufacturer.

Thanks, for the tip, as I had also been shopping for a Leupold 2 x 7 VX 2 and I was somewhat interested in one of the Redfield Revolutions in a 2 x 7. They were already $10 cheaper on the Redfield then anywhere else, and the Leupold was the standard $299, which when buying them together got me the free shipping, then subtract $40.00 plus for the 9% discount and it was definately the best deal I had seen so I went for it, and ordered one of each.

I had a AR15 that needed a scope and an old Browning FN Bolt that needed one.
