I wouldnt go swimmin with it, but then again the caps not "waterproof" either.
I think resistant is about as good as you can hope for.
But keep this in mind..
If the scope could get H2O INTO it then the gas inside would obviously leak out, wouldnt it?
So I doubt than any amount of rain is going to get inside a scope in 100% condition.

Yes, they are. I've submerged them in 140 degree plus water for over 5 mins. w/o any bubbles at all. E
