I finally managed to get some pics of the hog I shot in October. I managed to bag my first boar at 100 yards with a 25.06 using 115 grain ballistic tips and Reloader 22. First shot dropped him, only for him to get up and make it to the tree line, second shot severed his spine and anchored him. While approaching him his head and neck jumped up and snapped his jaws, only in time for me to place a 40 caliber Gold Dot into him. They can be tough critters? I managed another shot at another pig over 100 yards using a 168 Barnes TSX only to track it for two hours and never find it. Found blood and bone, no pig though.

Were you back at my honey hole again? Looks like they upgraded the skinning area.

That's a gorgeous color on that hog!

And if they're that tough down there now, I suppose I'd better bring the .300 WM!

Congrats on a great hunt,

FC

Thanks buddy! Yeah I was surprised at how much Russian strain was in it! It had the razor back and was a little tank! It entered the field with another all black male pig that was estimated at 125lb range. Casey watched as I shot one with the 30.06 with a handloaded 168 TSX and we tracked that thing for two hours in palmettos. We were covered in spider webs, sweat, and bugs with nothing to show for it. I'm heading back in the next couple of weeks to try to put one on the wall. I had intended on mounting him but did not have much in the way of cutters but the red coloring was awesome, kind of regret not taking him but didn't have enough room in the coolers with the meat and it was leaking everywhere so I left him.
