Coming up on the celebration of our Country's Independence, and people still don't have a clue to Flag etiquette or how to fly our Flag.

Went in to a Sam's club last night and they had a display up showing our Flag backwards, and when I called the manager on it, he said its been up more than a week and nobody has said anything before?????

Received this month's copy of an Industrial magazine I get, and on the inside front cover they have an image of our Flag with a display of tooling on it.

I've complained to both, but you'd think that they'd have more sense. mad

Again I'll post a site that can explain.

U.S. Flag Rules and Regulations

For those that don't know the proper way to show respect to our Flag when wanting to display their respect to our Country, please read.

I'd be a little upset seeing my colors displayed that way too, but army uniforms have a backwards flag on their shoulders to indicate the flag moving forward. Check out this website.

The reasoning for the reversed Flag patch shown on a soldiers uniform is so that the flag can be permanently shown on the uniform with nothing above it. The left shoulder being taken up by unit patches.

Normally you would think that as with a lapel pin which should be worn on the left side closest to the heart, the same would be so for the Flag patch to be worn by soldiers.

The reason for it being shown in reverse is so that it can be shown as if the unit is moving forward and not in a manor as if showing the unit in retreat.
