By Rebekah L. Sanders, The Arizona Republic
PHOENIXSupporters of Ron Paul booed presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's son off the stage Saturday at the Arizona Republican Party convention, as he sought to solidify support for his father's nomination.

Hundreds of state GOP members were gathered at Grand Canyon University to elect delegates for the national convention in July in Tampa, Fla., which is expected to select Mitt Romney as the official Republican nominee to challenge President Obama.

"We cannot afford four more years of President Obama," said Josh Romney, the third of Mitt Romney's five sons. "We need someone to step in there and turn things around."

But Josh Romney had to stop repeatedly as people booed and yelled for Paul, who has continued campaigning in the Republican primary. All other challengers, including Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, have dropped out of the race, and Romney has a commanding lead over Paul in the estimated delegate count.

But Paul supporters have begun flooding state conventions, recently winning control of delegate majorities in Nevada and Maine.

Josh Romney tried to appease the crowd, taking a minute to recognize his father's former challengers.
I recognize how hard it is to run for president, the sacrifice those men and women made running for president," he said. "It's a great contribution they've made to the party."

He recapped Mitt Romney's background of turning around failing companies, rehabilitating the Salt Lake City Olympics organization and balancing the budget as governor of Massachusetts.

Josh Romney said his dad stepped up to the added challenges of taking care of the family after wife Ann was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

But as Josh Romney wrapped up, with an admonition to choose the preferred slate of Mitt Romney delegates, the crowd exploded with competing boos and cheers, cutting him short.
Some attendees said they heard Paul supporters chanting outside that Mitt Romney is "the white Obama."

Arizona is a winner-take-all state, meaning that all of the state's available 29 national delegates will go to one candidate. Arizona originally had 58 delegates, but the Republican National Committee took away half as punishment for the state's decision to break party rules and hold its primary before March 6.

More anti 2nd amendment liberals need to be booed off stage.

I hope it gets to be a trend.

Yeah, I seem to remember they got their knickers in a twist when they didn't think their dear leader got enough facetime during the debates, but I guess they are no different after all. They're not really interested in people's rights after all, just fawning over RP. That's why this whole Ron Paul phenomenon is such a load of bullschit. Neither RP nor his followers believe or believe in a single word of the crap he spews out - it's just typical politician bullschit meant to try to get him elected.

There's already a trend. It's called Ron Paul not winning primaries! Dig it! grin

Yeah,..that must be it.

By the way, it seems like the real news occurred at the Oklahoma convention.

Details are still sketchy, but this is being mentioned at the Daily Paul blog.

A woman got hit by another woman in the spine.

A 70-year-old man hit a younger guy. They showed video of the 70-year-old guy being escorted out by authorities.

They also mentioned the lights being turned off on certain group sections and turning off mics.

Apparently, the Romney people showed up,..made a big stink,..said the convention was over, shut down and went home.

The convention was then held in the parking lot.

I spoke personally with a big Paulie that was part of the disruption at the AK Convention. He told me that they know 2012 is done. They are preparing the way for 2016 by getting as many Paulies in high positions as possible in the GOP. They know they can't win going 3rd party... so they seek to take over the GOP using the GOP's own rules.

You can expect similar success in Tampa.

Basically an attempt at a hostile takeover by Libertarian RINO's. The frustration comes in when they can't win as Republicans, either, at least not with Ron Paul as their standard bearer. What are they gonna do, wheel him in in a wheelchair in 2016 and on a gurney in 2020?

They are thinking someone else for 2016. Paul is just a puppet at this point. They want the GOP, and basically got it in Alaska. They swarmed the caucuses and overwhelmed the convention. They know the rules, and are using it to take over. And, they are a loud, rude, and bold group.

The caucuses are their preferred venue, because they can orchestrate the outcome, or try to. They don't fare so well when it comes to votes by secret ballot.

They are doing the same thing here in NV. For the most part they are a bunch of toothless welfare wonders on a mission. They want to smoke their dope and collect unemployment/disability.

It sure ain't your daddy's GOP they have in mind. whistle

hmmmm,...

I can't say that I've heard of any welfare wonders who support the libertarian ideology.

Libertarians call for an extremely small central government.

There would be no welfare program in a libertarian society.

I have been to the last three GOP caucus, and this is what shows up in droves here. They are the same rocket scientists that got Sharon Angel nominated. That pretty much resembled the North Korean space program. smirk

That was the Tea Party.

There's a bit of overlap between the Ron Paul supporters and the Tea Party,...but not all that much any longer.

The Tea Party is pretty much establishment GOP.

Then they ought to run under the Libertarian Party if that's what they are. But wait, nobody would vote for them then. But wait, nobody is voting for them now, either. Hmmm. Maybe it's not the name they run under, maybe IT'S THEIR POLICIES that The People don't like!!!

You know, if Ron Paul supporters think it's appropriate to boo people off stage that they don't agree with, then maybe Romney's people oughta do the same thing to Ron Paul...at the Republican Convention...on prime time national television. Tit for tat, as it were.
