I am frequently looking for a better flashlight, and it seems that, recently, something better is always coming along.

I've been real happy with my Surefire, and the batteries if bought in boxes of 24 are not prohibitively priced. I do resent not being able to buy them that way at Farm and Fleet, but having to order them and wait.

I am fully sold on the high output L.E.D.s and now i see them offered even in some inexpensive stuff in blister packs at the big box stores.

What are some of the better deals on AA & AAA LED pocketable flashlights?

What I'm looking for now will be used at work, and batteries will be supplied.
Probably looking at lower cost units, as conditions are a bit rugged there, and chance of loss is high...

Got headlamps covered already... Thanks....

Costco has a 3 pack of 250 lumen flashlights for $20 ($16 on sale). You just cannot beat that deal. I have had some for years with no problems. They also have some 500 Lumen ones for $25 I believe (a 2 pack). I dont see how Surefire is going to stay in business with those deals.

I can't really help you with pocket sized lights, I mostly use them at home and size isn't an issue. As far as brands go, I have had good luck with Coast, Fenix, and Olight. Let us know what you end up with.

I've never been in a costco, having only seen them while traveling.
Looked on their website just now, and they had very few choices, and nothing like what you described. Can you provide a link?

For pockets, a lot of stores around here stock the Nebo CSI Edge 50 (lumens) for about $10 and the Edge 90 for about $13. They each run on a single AA battery and work fine. the 50 is rated for 5 hours runtime and the 90 for 3. The only issue is that they both have a goofy "strike bezel" which is hard on pockets and hands when reaching for them. The one on the 90 can be unscrewed and tossed in the trash can, so that is better for me. I keep a bunch of the 50s all over the place. They don't replace my SureFires or my Streamlight ProTac 1L in my pocket, but I don't fret if I lose the cheapies.

I've got one of the Surefires with the strike bezel, 200 lumen, A 6PX, I think is the model #, and it is a solid tool. They have some out with 500 lumens, but I have not yet bought one.

Casual, occasional use, yeah a cheap light works fine. For serious use I'd want the most reliable one I could get.

Check out the new mini maglights. Same durability as before and comparable to any other high lumen style on the market.

I've got one of these that I keep clipped to the daypack that I use when I'm on a driving job. Good little light for most utility needs. This particular one seems to have a glow in the dark band around it as well as the glow in the dark switch. That can be really helpful when you're trying to find it in the dark recesses of a pack or bag. I put reflective tape around all of my dark colored items to make them easier to find in the bottoms of bags or if dropped.

I like the single AAA key chain lights because you "always" have it with you. The LDO1 I suggested will clip on your key chain and still give you an hours worth of light equivalent to an old 3D Maglite and 5 hours of good walking around light.
