On the other hand�maybe Israel is more than a little worried about chemical weapons drifting about in their tiny country�

In a call that could be seen as directed only at Washington, Israel�s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said on August 26 that �Iran is watching, and it wants to see what will be the reaction to the use of chemical weapons.�

These comments, alongside similar sentiments expressed by columnists supportive of the Netanyahu government, mark a shift in Israel�s approach to the Syrian civil war, which has been raging for two and half years.

Initially, Israel made clear that it was not taking sides in the conflict. It limited its response to issues directly related to its own security � primarily the use of Syrian land for transferring advanced weapons to Hezbollah.

Israel�s change of tone suggests that it now sees a lack of American response to the overt use of chemical weapons as something that would embolden the Syrian president and his allies in Tehran in a way that could be harmful to Israel.

RULE 7. You know when you have won your argument against Konspiracy Kooks when:
a. they have no response except circular logic by quoting other Konspiracy Kooks.

The only thing we can do short of putting troops on the ground is destroy their air bases, sam missle bases, army bases, and what tanks or artillery we see on the ground. However, Artillery can be hidden and can fire the poison gas in shells. Civilians might also be hit. This might be a temporary set back for Syria, like Iraq in the first Gulf war. Still doesn't remove Assad. He might retaliate and release Hezbollah to fire missles into Israel or even Iran to fire missles into Israel. Then Israel gets to retaliating and it just escalates. Oil prices will then go sky high, and we will see $4/gallon gasoline again, etc, etc. Without the UN backing and without NATO backing, it doesn't make sense. With their backing, then not much is said.
