When the wind and waves allow the green water to come in to matagorda beach, we have been hammering the speckled trout and slot reds. My wife is now hooked and watches the beach cams/wave height indicators. What did i start! Its about time to catch some big bull reds for fun. Wife just made some blackened trout..way to delicious!

..and early teal season starts next week so waterfowl season is kicking off too.

Spent many a September day killing teal in the morning and bass fishing soon as a limit was reached.

I'm hoping to finish up our deer stands and lanes this week, then hit Rockport before deer season starts.

It takes an effort to get away from our deer lease to hit the saltwater. East Texas rut starts around the 20th of Oct, maybe a little sooner, much earlier than y'alls. But, if we have more hot weather like last year early in Oct I'm fishing Rockport.

Our rut will be starting will be starting around end of sept. beginning of oct. in matagorda/wharton/lavaca county. It starts very early along the coast between victoria and houston! It would be nice to start in late dec. like it does in south texas, where it would be much cooler.
