The sporter stock on my Mex Mauser cracked right thru to the pistol grip. I'd like to replace it with something less than a custom stock. I've searched around and can't find anything. Someone said a stock for the M96 Swede would work. Like to know for sure before spending good cash.

Does anyone make a drop in for the Mex?

I'm assuming that you have a small ring Mex Mauser, but which 1?

That style of Choate stock sucks! I've had 3 or 4 come to me via sporterized Sweds.

The small ring Mexican Mauser will fit into stocks inletted for the other small rings (93, 95, 96 Swede), but may require some minor inletting.

I've been looking at replacing the synthetic stock on my 1910. Boyd's and Richards Microfit both offer what they describe as fully inletted stocks for small ring Mausers, but they are inletted for the stepped military barrel. If you have a sporter barrel, you'll have to get a semi-inletted stock, or fill in the gaps of the stepped stock with bedding (I wouldn't go this route).

The scuttle butt I've been picking up off the net has me leaning towards Boyds. Lots of reports of Richards stocks taking a lot of extra work to make right.

It is a 1936 Mex Mau. However, I think it is a large ring, short action.

Actually, I've 2 stocks by Royal. One on a Rem 721 and another on an HVA action. You get a good quality of wood for the price. However, they must be fitted by a stock maker and i was hoping to avoid that.

The 1936 and the 1910 Mexicans are both small ring intermediate actions. the 1924 Mex. is a large ring intermediate.

Roj..,

Good info. A small ring stock for say a M95 or M96 might work.
