Redoing a rough Marlin 336 in .35 Rem. It has light pitting on the receiver and barrel. Internals and bore are fine. I am trying to decide if I should just have it matte blued or get it Duracoted. I know most on here prefer Cerakote over Duracote but, my local smith does Duracote not Cerakote. Which would be better?

Duracoat flat out sucks, if you can't cerakote at least go Norrel's Molly.

We do CeraKote only but to be fair, the Durakote will work. Just not our preference. For a listing of applicators near you, go to nicindustries.com

For metal, go with Cerakote, it is a superior finish. No question it will last longer. If you are doing a stock, either one works equally as well.

Cerakote is tougher on metal, but properly done, Duracoat will do a good job. Duracoat gets a bad reputation because many DIY guys screw it up and then complain about the product.
