Did not realize you could not click on link, it worked for me. .45 Colt Ruger Redhawk. Handloaded 320 gr. Wide Meplate, Gas checked, hand cast from wheel weight, with max dose of H110. Somewhere on the low end of a Casull. Can you say handfull? Even with weight lifting gloves it is a wrist wrencher. Lit' it off around dusk had a 3 ft. fireball at the muzzle.

I am a Redhawk fan. Prefer Bisley Blackhawk or Vaquero for heavy loads.
Nice revolver.......and aren't they kinda' hard to locate in the 45 variety.

It took me quite a while to find this one (Like new) at a reasonable price.

Actually has better accuracy with the hot and heavy load. It is amazing what that little 4 inch barrel will do off a rest and some trigger control

Had both the Ruger and the Taurus in .454. The Taurus worked loose after 3 boxes,it began to not lock up tight. Please if you have a Taurus and shot thousands of rounds through it, thats great. Just did not work for me. The Ruger was awesome just considered it to heavy to pack comfortably. Contacted several smiths to have the barrel cut down. Was told by more then one that Ruger does something special when putting the barrel in, and it was difficult to get out. I mentioned. Could they not lop off the front of it, they said to do it right they would have had to have the barrel out to properly recrown, in a lathe. I know it can be recrown by hand, and I think one gentleman on here has one done that way, but the smiths I talked to did not want to.So I gave up on the project. I really think the power to weight ratio, is about at it's limit for me on the heavy loads.

Whitworth1, Come on, you have to explain because that revolver is really cool! Please give us the vitals and who built it? Sam

There's guy in Fairbanks that built one just like it except he has really nice wood grips on his.
The hardest part is finding a SRH .454 cylinder.

Whitworth1, Come on, you have to explain because that revolver is really cool! Please give us the vitals and who built it? Sam Jack Huntington did it, but it just drops in. The Redhawk and the Super Redhawk are essentially the same revolver (save for the frame extension for optic mount, and the grip frame). No modifications necessary. The only issue is finding a cylinder. I had one left over when my .454 SRH became a .500 Linebaugh. It is accurate, but with the lousy grips it is brutal with heavy Casull loads. I mainly shoot heavy .45 Colt loads through it.

Do you think a set of Hogue Monogrips would help?

Do you think a set of Hogue Monogrips would help? If it had the SRH's grip frame I would have a set of Hogue Tamers on it, but it's pure Redhawk in the grip department. What it needs is a set of Nil Griffe wood grips -- they fill the hand a lot better than these Pachmyrs do.
