Hi all,

I just ordered a holster from a custom maker for my 50th anniversary .44 mag BH. When I talked to them on the phone they seemed a little unsure if the specs for the 50th anniversary model would be the same as a regular blackhawk or super blackhawk but after they looked at it online they said it was the same as the new model BH. Does anyone know lf there is a difference in frame size between these 2 models? I'm a little uneasy about it since it's an expensive holster with a long wait time and they seemed less than sure about it.

Thanks,

Joe

Why on earth would Ruger change the dimensions of the pistol just for an anniversary model? As long as you give them the correct barrel length, you should be good.

They changed it on the .357 Anniversary model...but, they did not change it on the .44mag Anniversary model...it is the same.

As Jim just said, Ruger re-introduced the original mid-frame Flat Top design with the 50th Anniversary .357 and shortly thereafter with the New Vaquero. The .44 Anniversary Flat Top is the same size frame as the Blackhawk and Super Blackhawk just without the sight ears and back to the original XR3 gripframe.

The holster ordered should be correct IF it is for the larger New Model Blackhawk/Super Blackhawk and not the mid-frame Flat Top guns.

The New Vaquero/50th Anniversary Rugers brought positive changes for those of us who prefer the grip & handing qualities of the Colt Single Action, but still wanted the Ruger's durability & safety advantages.

There are definitely dimensional differences that will affect holster fit and Gunblast.com has a photo-rich article explaining them.
