I've dealt with these people in that I sold them a cowdog last year. Great young family. This horse might be a little older and a little bigger than you want but he is well-seasoned.

I've known Bart & family for almost 20 yrs., since his Arrow Rnch. days in the Big Hole. He is definitely GTG. I'll have to call him to say hello.

Tell him hello from me and ask how Rio is doing. I haven't met them yet but they seem like a wonderful young family. This is the one thing I really appreciate about technology. Rather than taking a chance on a horse through the sales ring you can watch a video of the horse in surroundings where it is comfortable doing a variety of things. My bet this horse will be out of Sedona's price range even if she were interested. Any bomb-proof kid's horse is worth a mint these days. At BLS good Shetland ponies are bringing up to $8500.

Just watched the video. Good horse and spunky kid at 3:18. Well done. Do you know what the age and asking price are? Just out of curiosity?

The roan is 11 and is consigned to a sale in Pinedale, WY on June 9th.

I have heard that trained ponies are selling for more than horses. Is this accurate?

Gentler, well-broke, proven ponies, especially the smaller Shetlands, are bringing from $3500 to $8500. All it takes is two sets of well-heeled grandparents bidding against one another.

Bejesus,and I can remember paying $50 for a nice little shetland that taught about 3 famile's kids to ride. That pony was passed around like a poor step child.

I bought a team of well broke shetland mules for $600.Actually I think it was less than that,but memory fails me.

Ponies can bring that money here if you can strap an english saddle on them and jump rails at horse shows.

Salmon sale is big for outfitters who don't like to feed all winter.

The sale is this weekend so they feed most of the winter. I would say it is more of a ranch horse sale of all caliber. Seen prices go there anywere from $900 to $17000.

The same as I left her, Busy winter in construction from being so mild. My dad passed away in Feb at 82, his cancer came back. The cancer came back and blocked a vein in his liver, they tried to put a stent in to open it up but failed to do so. To make a long story short, an infection is what done him in. Needless to say the mare is way down on my list of things to do right now. I might just breed her or send her back out to my friends out your way,They can put the miles on her to work out these issues.

I sure would not breed her until you found the problem.If it is her disposition, no sense passing it on.

Now that's a nice horse. I doubt he'd be something I could afford, though, considering how nice he is.

MTRancher, I finished the first two books of the Ezra Riley series, and I absolutely loved them!

Just for the record, I have NOT found a boyfriend--just been super busy at work, and at the trainer's barn where I apprentice. I'm way too independently minded to attract any worthwhile male attention.

Back to horse sales, probably the best one in this region is coming up April 21. It's called the "Real Ranch Horse Sale" and its by invitation only after passing a screening. It's held at the Montana Boys and Girls Ranch. But again, more for ranch horses than trail horses, but most of these horses can do about anything. Its the sale I'd recommend if someone was looking for a good mount.
