Do Sako's have a floating recoil lug like a Tika, or is it a solid part of the barreled action? Thank you.

The new 85's have a system of ther own, I'll let someone else who has one explain.I'm not sure about how the sako A7 is done. The model 75's have a fixed recoil lug as do the older sakos.

Its like a shoe that fits into a recess in the stock. My 85 shoots very well and have know issues with this non- traditional system at least in 30 06

Sako 75's have the recoil lug in the receiver..the 85 has a bracket that is screwed into the stocket and the lug fits into the bracket an arrangement much like the older AV's. I have a 75 and T3 and both are very accurate

The 75's recoil lug is not integral to the receiver. It's a separate part fitted to a slot in the receiver and held in place with a set screw.

Thats why I said "In" the receiver and not a integral lug. grin

BTW I wonder if they ever loosen up or not over a period of time

Just trying to clarify things for those who are not familiar with it.

When the 75 was new on the market there was a lot of griping on forums like this about the recoil lug (and other aspects of this rifle). Now with several years under its belt the 75 is highly regarded as far as I can tell. I've owned two and have had zero problems with the recoil lug or any other aspect of this rifle. Don't know if it'll loosen over time, but so far so good.

I guess I could loosen that allen screw ..remove the lug and glass it into place in the stock ala T3 and then almost call it a tikka grin

Thanks guys. I'll have to look at one to see for myself. I own 3 tikas, and wanting a Sako in 7-08. I was just curious about the option to glass bed a Sako, as it is a different deal to bed a Tika.

Have any of you glass bedded your Sako(which model)? Was it a straight forward job? Thanks for the help.

I bedded both of my 75's into the factory stocks. Wasn't too difficult IIRC.

Thanks for the help guys. Looks like the 85 Grey Wolf might be the one. Hard to find one at a shop that someone will let you take apart. Thanks for the pics.
