I'm going to start coyote hunting with a friend that is very successful at it. I just bought a T3 SS in the 22-250 with a Leupold VXIII 4X14 scope....did I do ok?

I took my son out shooting last weekend and brought along his T3 223. Each time I shoot it I'm more impressed. Eventually I let him shoot! It has a great trigger, easy to shoot well.

My Uncle just bought the same rifle, same scope. Variables may have been different.
He too bought it for coyotes. But first, we warmed up with some prarie dogs. He was hitting them out to 300 yards by the end of our day. It is his favorite rifle now, and he has bunches!
We will be trying it on the song dogs next month, but after seeing him with those prarie dogs, I can tell you, it will do great!

You did fine, and I will make a prediction. Before long, it will be impossible to pry that rifle out of your hands. The Tikkas are very good rifles for the money they cost, and it is very hard to go wrong mounting a Leupold scope on any hunting rifle.

Thanks for the reassurance! I couldn't wait for Leupold to come out with their new line of scopes. So I went for the VXIII. What bullet would you recommend in this rifle for coyotes?

the 50 grain Vmax is held in high regard around here. I have had good luck with blitzkings, and plain jane spitzers from Hornady and sierra.

I also went through one tear where I shot Winchester White box factory loads. I think they were 45 grain JHP's. They worked fair to middlin too.

If your not worried about pelts almost any 50gr will work but that 50gr Vmax mentioned by CT makes one heck of a splat.
