I was trying to find a Carbelite as a cheaper alternative for a tang safety Ruger but they are no longer listed..... Does anyone know if they have been discontinued?

okie john - "Pretty sure that happened a while ago." Believe you are correct as I looked for one (Carbelite) about 5+ years ago. Ended up buying a Medalist. Maybe not enough profit/features etc. in the Carbelite. You don't even see them advertised anymore. Homesteader

The Carbelite was a very poorly constructed stock. A significant step down from most factory tupperware stocks. The Medalist isn't my favorite, but with the aluminum inserts is a tough stock. The Carbelite was the equivalent of buying a gunstock made of particle board instead of solid or laminated wood.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

JMR40 - "A significant step down from most factory tupperware stocks". Had a Savage synthetic stock that was flexible enough to almost make me believe it was made from recycled rubber bands. The Carbelite, in comparison, was a "Rock of Gibralter" clone.

Have a Carbelite on a M77 Mk-II. It wasn't inletted very well, but I got it fixed. Bedded it and added a forened pressure point and the rifle shoots very well. It's quite stiff, but not light. I'd say it's worth ~ $150 in today's stock market (if you can find one)
