No. You should never hunt with it. In fact, I run a museum for old rifles and would love to display it behind glass, where it will be preserved and pampered. How much you want for that useless rifle?

Why not hunt with it? I find it very satisfying to hunt with older firearms, the ones our Dad's and Granddad's considered state of the art - it adds to the enjoyment of hunting to me. It looks to be in beautiful condition, if it is sound as it looks go hunting!

This jewel came out of a collection of German guns that I bought from a fellow here in Beverly Hills. If you like this one, you should see some of the others!
It's kinda on display right now, just can't bring myself to take her outside! Might get dirty! It's absolutely pristine.
How much I want for this useless rifle? Don't know. How much you give?! :-)

There were five guns altogether that I figured as a lot.

Is that one built on a Mauser action. Looks clearly to be the case? Very nice.

I agree with Hawkeye, you should NOT hunt with that rifle. What you should do with it is send it to me and let me hunt with it.
That is a very very nice rifle!

What was it built for?
Having a rifle like that and not hunting with it, is like having a custom bike or a fine, hot woman, and not riding either.

You guys are killing me! I imagine it was a GI bringback, and was probably chambered in that 9.3xsomethingorother caliber, and then was re-chambered for .35 Whelen which is supposed to be the closest. I'll take it out soon and see how she shoots. Hopefully it won't get too dirty!!

If you don't take that rifle out and hunt with it,I feel you are doing it's designer a disservice, and can imagine ol' Paul Mauser rolling over in his grave. I think it needs to go on a wild pig hunt hunt, that peep sight is just screaming for a hog. Hank
P.S. if you go pig hunting can I join ya?

That rifle has European fine craftsmanship written all over it.
Putting outdoor wear and tear on a fine, fine piece of work like that would be, IMHO, a tad bit of a shame.
You know, in the same manner as you don't break out a 20 year old, $100 bottle of Scotch around the campfire, and chase it with beer, either.

It couldn't be a rebored 9.3 as 9.3 is .366" and .35 Whelen is .358" I'd hunt with it, that rifle deserves to be used. Mike
