I recently handled one of these in .270 WSM and was impressed with the feel and the fit and finish was also top notch, I might even would have bought the rifle if it had been a .300 WSM. any thoughts from owners? will they shoot like Nosler says they will?.................Thanks Hillbilly.

Hillbilly, I owned a Nosler 48 TGR rifle in .308 for a while. Liked the rifle but could not make it shoot like a $1300 rifle should. I gave it an honest try with numerous factory and many handload's. I traded it off! If you are going 2 spend that much, look at the Coopers. Just my opinion.

Why did you not send it back to Nosler .... it comes with an accuracy guarantee .... does it not?? Just curious.

Nosler says 3/4" 3 shot groups at 100 yds guaranteed, but they are very pricey...................Hillbilly.

They are very accurate, and have some pretty impressive features.

I have shot around 7-8 Nosler custom rifles, including at least one of every model, and all have met or exceeded the accuracy guarantee.

I have an early one in .308. It shoots extremely well. On one range trip it shot like crap, when I got it home I checked the action screws and they had loosened. I put some purple (low strength) Locktite on them and re-torqued them. They have not loosened since, but I can still easily remove them when desired.

I decided to pull the trigger on a Custom Sporter in .300 WSM but a Nosler gunsmith informed me that the .300 WSM rifle comes with a too heavy for me #3 contour barrel that makes this caliber weigh around 7.25 lbs which is a little heavy for my taste,he said that Nosler custom builds each mod 48 rifle as they receive the order but that they couldn't build mine with a lighter contour barrel, I told him that I noticed that the 30.06 caliber in the same model (a long action) weighed only 6.75 lbs which would be acceptable, he said the 30.06 came with a light contour barrel and that was the difference in the weight, but also added that they would not build me a .300 WSM with a lighter barrel, what a shame, I think I would have really enjoyed one of these rifles but if I'm going to pay $2300.00 for a rifle it will be Exactly what I want with no compromises.....Too bad, I did tell him to call me if they ever build the .300 WSM with a lighter barrel, I think this would be a hell of a rifle...............Hillbilly.

I've never had one in my hands but the action looks similiar to a Howa/Vanguard, do they build off of these actions?

Barsness said the same guy who designed the Howa action also designed the Nosler 48 action. Someone here had both and said the bolts were interchangeable.

I'd just buy a new M70 myself, or an older Rem 700 BDL (70s or early 80s) and rebarrel it.

I'd just buy an action and send it to a good smith. Tricked out and bedded in a Mickey would still put you less than 2300.
