What is the mag length on this lil action? Can you squeeze the heavys in there?

Any overall opinions on the 527 in 223? Trigger?

I have one and It's a sub moa gun with the sporter weight barrel. The trigger when set first breaks in the ounces.

Hi, I have a the 527 carbine in .223
The rifle has a nice trigger using the regular trigger and by pushing forward on it the trigger is then set(single set trigger)and it is then great!
Dont know what you mean by the heavy,s but the the rifle comes in 7.62x39 as well.
Mine shoots the 60 grain partion (Federal factory Premium) loads into less than 1.5 inches for 3 of them at 150 yards.
This is the only load I have shot in mine and it worked great on a 150 pound doe shot at 150 yards(post and pics somewhere in the rifle thread here)It may shoot better with lighter bullets ?
Overall I really like the rifle and with scope (4x Leupold compact)and sling(simple strap)and loaded(5 rounds in the magazine) weighs a tad less than 7 pounds.
Very easy to carry on shoulder and carry in the hand as I hold it with the Magazine resting on the side of my little finger and let the muzzle point at an angle toward the ground.

Moonie...have the 527 you describe and had the 527 in 7.62x39. Love/loved both! Trigger is as mentioned. No problems and it is a sweet carbine!

Heavy's = Heavy for caliber (long) bullets like the 75 Amax.

I was wondering the max OAL that will fit in the 527 magazine.

I have a 550 Magnum action with the set trigger and really like it. Good to hear the 527 is the same.

There is a used one hanging on the rack at the local shop. Looks like the Kevlar Varmit 527 that has the 9 twist barrel.

I have one in .204. I liked the trigger when I first got it. Most of the triggers on the guns that I had at the time sucked. I've since come to prefer a timney or a factory trigger that's been worked over by a good smith. Other things that have gotten old are the backwards safety and the protruding magazine.

The trigger on the 527 can be adjusted just like most rifles ,without a gunsmith.
To each his own as far as the so called backwards safety, for me its just a different safety . Mausers are different from the remington 700 which is different from the Ruger77 and different from the CZ527 and different from the Remington 7600 and different from pulling the hammer back on some lever guns and well you get the picture.
Its all about realizing the gun you are using and its mechanical safety operation.
As far as the Magazine, well ya got me there.
I really wasn,t that enamored with it very much to start with but it has grown on me .
Gives the rifle a unique look ! Similiar to a 1891 Mauser.

But we all have our likes and dislikes.
I like mine.

Ain't worried about a backwards safety. I figure if I can manage to walk and chew gum I can figure it out.

More interested in opening the mag up to 2.450 or so.

I have, 527/.223 carbine, 527/.223 American and the 527/.7.62x39 carbine.

All have very good triggers right out of the box.
Both .223 s shoot several loads very well.
The 7.62x39 is plenty good enough with WPA or Tula 123gr. hollow points, for deer or hogs at 150 yds.

Looking at the magazine - I don't know how it could be stretched, or opened up, to take a longer cartridge. Looks pretty much like it was intended for factory length .204, .223's - that sort of thing.

Oh-well.

I was hoping I could AI it and run some longer bullets with the 9" twist.

Looks like the mag will have the case eating a good bit of the longer bullets up past the ogive?
