I'm thinking of getting the Otis cleaning kit. I have rifles and handguns from 22-50 cal and most shotgun gauges. i'm thinking of getting this one: http://www.otistec.com/pc_product_detail.asp?key=42C53F70C0A941A2B942452A4E83C9CFdoes anyone have the otis system? if so, what do you think? i'm not heavy shooter, mainly a hunter that shoots mostly 22 and 357 and 44 with deer rifles getting some shooting every once in a while.
My diploma is a DD214

I've got one, but I've never used it. I keep it in my AR bag. I normally clean it with a bench rod when I get back home.
I guess you could say I keep it for hard times....

I like it. Easy to use, easier to store.

I have one, won it at a FofNRA event, wondered if I'd ever use it. I do. It's the simplest way I've found to clean revolvers and long guns that don't lend themselves to cleaning from breech to muzzle to do so. It's also handy to thrown in a pack and have something to clean a bore with, if the need arises, under circumstances where you may not have a conventional cleaning kit.

I don't clean my long guns often though I shoot a lot. I clean my handguns often. The OTIS system is cool. You will like it.
I don't use their patches. I couldn't ever figure out all those holes and how to wrap the patch. I cut them into manageable old-school squares. Then I just by Outers patches.

Much like Crimson, I've owned one for years and never used it. It goes to camps as expediency gear, but not been called on. My main reason being, I don't feel comfortable pulling cable through chambers or muzzles without some protective guides and those aren't included in my kit. If it was called into action it would likely be just be to lightly clean and lube a bore. There's typically not enough shooting in camps to demand a deep cleaning.
I could see more utility if I was into extended back pack tris under fowl weather conditions.

I've used mine for about 10 years whenever I shoot my lever action, which is quite often, and a lot of the time when I shoot a bolt action. It would be hard for me to get by without it.

I'm not a fan of pull-throughs. I have a rifle that had the rifling crown damaged by sloppy pull-through action - but don't know how long it took to do this sort of damage.
On the other hand, if you have an extension on the barrel of some sort (flash suppressor or brake) then a pull-through should be okay. I only ever used a pull-through on my M14 but the chrome bore was a dream to clean anyway.
Whatever you said...everyone knows you are a lying jerk. That's a bold assertion. Point out where you think I lied. Well?

I've had the same one for quite a few years. Very slick, it's all I use anymore.
