Any 1-28" .50 should perform about the same, but the G2 is very light and handy, if that's important. The Encore's weight would soak up a lot of recoil, if you plan on making it into a magnum. The longer barrel will give somewhat higher velocities too.
I handled a G2 a while back and found it impossible to get my face down on the stock far enough to use the open sights. The Encore may well be the same. The only one I ever shot was a scoped, thumbhole laminate, and it was very comfortable and "hung" very nicely offhand.
