Will a tang safety model 77 fit in a Hawkeye stock? No..There are several differences. You can get TS stocks from a bunch of places Mcmillian, Bell and Carlson and Ramline to name a few.
The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. Under this Republic the rewards of industry belong to those who earn them. Coolidge

If you're looking for a walnut tang safety stock, they often show up on Ebay.

One more 77 stock question; did early models - dubbed lightweights - have an ebony fore end-tip?
I'm talking MK I, tang safety rifles.

Yes, the original tang safety M77 ultra light had a ebony for-end tip.

There were a few 358 tang safety carbines with rifle sights made that had no black forend tip. These were 18.5 inch barrels, similar to the RS ultralight model. Bfly

I wasn't really looking for a stock. I was in the local gunstore the other day and picked up a new Hawkeye, and really liked the stock. I thought maybe they would fit my old TS models. They won't, so it's no big deal, I've been shooting them the way they are for 30 years. I did have my standard weight swift thinned down years ago by and old Smith here in town, be died some years back. Wish I would have had him do the other two. Thanks for your help.
