How long was the standard barrel length on the early 318 Westley Richards?

How long were the barrel lengths of the three early 275 Rigby?

What was the muzzle diameter of the above?

A couple of pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks captdavid

The few original 318 WR's I've seen have all been 28 inches. I'm sure there were other barrel lengths.

I've seen 275 Rigby's in varying lengths.

I cannot speak to exact muzzle diameters but they seem to run on the smaller side. I haven't seen any, that I can recall, British small/medium bores with stocky barrels.

Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

Kynoch rates their .318 in 28", and I imagine that was the original length. They do not offer the .275.

Wright's book on double rifles has a 1926 ICI catalog listing giving the rated barrel length of the .318 as 28". Again, no .275 was listed.

275 Rigby was really just Rigby's load for the 7x57. And custom guns came in whatever barrel length the commissioner wanted in a rifle, though I'm sure the Rigby shop would have recommended something like 26"+ as was the custom in the Edwardian era.
