I ended up with a Remington factory takeoff barrel in 416 Rem Mag (thanks Dober!). It's got to be from the custom shop as I think that is the only way they offer that chambering. Any how, found a donor action and sent barrel and action off to High Tech Customs www.htcustoms.com for the install. Prompt service and sights perfectly indexed. I had to open up the barrel channel a little on an HS stock I had but it is bedded and floated and trigger adjusted. I haven't had the chance to shoot any full house loads yet but I have shot a 416 Rigby that was lighter than this so I know what to expect. Stiff but manageable. Probably going to fix it up with QR bases and rings and a 2-7x scope. What am I going to shoot with it? Any bloody thing I want! I figure it will work just fine on deer and hogs for now and if I ever get to go to Africa I won't feel undergunned no matter what is on the menu.

I picked up a lefty 416 KS 2 years ago on GunsAmerica, had never been fired. Has the QR mounts and a 1.5x5 Leupold on it. Came with 200 unfired brass and dies. Hope to get to use it on a Cape Buffalo at some point.

Very cool! Left hand 416's are rare as hen's teeth. I just picked up a Kahles 1.5-6x for this one. I intend to fill a doe tag with it this fall.

What are you going to load? I picked up several boxes of Speer 350 gr Mag Tips for lighter loads, have several boxes of 400 gr Noslers for the serious stuff. I believe I also have some 350 gr Barnes TSX.

I've got a bunch of 400 gr Partitions and I got about 80 rounds of 350 gr hard cast flat nose gas check from another guy. I'll probably shoot up the hard cast loads in practice and deer hunting.

I got it scoped with a Kahles 1.5-6x 30 mm tube scope and set it up with Warne bases and QD Warne rings. It comes in right at 10 lbs empty. Loaded up 82 gr Win 760 behind some 400 gr Partitions and went to the range. Recoil is not bad at all with no muzzle jump thanks to the heavy barrel contour. I didn't even bother with my shoulder pad. Pictured is my first 100 yard group, I think it is a winner! By the way, sweet looking rig, Ngrumba!

It's amazing what a tight front action screw will do for your accuracy blush, shrank down to just barely under an inch at 100 yds. I had to adjust the scope, I was shooting 6 inches higher after tightening the action screw.

got to shoot one David Miller put together, nice rifle.

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.
