Well I've decided to set up my 7RM with turrets. This gun will do 4.5" @ 500yds so it's plenty accurate for the longer shots. I'm pretty much maxed out at 400-450yds on game with just holding over so turrets seem like the next step.
My question is what scope to get or can I just get turrets and put them on my current setup(Cabela's Alaskan Guide 4.5-14x44)? I don't want to spend a ton of money but I know getting set up this way won't be cheap either. Also, do I just send the company my drop chart and they send my the scope/turrets or how does that work? Thanks for the help, Brett

Hunter5325, I went to the Leupold Custom Shop and bought a vx1/2(cant remember which) and custom ordered my target knobs with bullet drop compensation knobs. Great scope with a very good price. The knobs really work well for me.

You can also go to Kenton Industry's webpage and see if they make turrets for your rifle currently. You may have to send back to manufacture to have target knobs placed and then order the right knobs from Kenton.

FWIW I use the knobs on most of my scopes as is. As long as they have a repeatable zero mark, its pretty easy to crank anything on and shoot.

I do come from a lot of years of competition shooting, and the first thing I do after a shot is go back to my no wind/elevation zeros. Not a true mechanical zero, but my baseline. That way I have no issues at all.

YMMV, Jeff

With a 250 yard zero and 168 X's I get a 38 inch drop @500, and 2 1/2 inch cold bore groups outta my '06...off 'pods and a backpack.

That's 7.6 MOA up, so crank 7.75 and drop the hammer.

That's with a VX1 3X9.......
