My family and I just moved to Southern Texas. We live in Portland which is right across the bay from Corpus Christi. My friend and I just got out of the Army and are avid outdoorsmen, we have done some fishing around the area with moderate luck but we both want to get back out in the field for some hunting. We went last year in New York alot and I took a doe on public land. I was wondering if anyone knew where we might be able to go hunting or if anyone knows someone that we could possibly contact, we saw alot of guided hunts but neither one of us is financially able for that right now. If anyone could enlighten me on what to do ro where to go it would be highly appreciated. Please PM me with any and all help, thank you...

Get on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website. They should have all of the info that you need on public land hunting.

Here's the Texas Parks & Wildlife site for public hunting. They offer all sorts of hunting opportunities from draw hunts to walk-in hunts. http://tpwd.texas.gov/huntwild/hunt/public/Another option is to advertise in some of the area feed stores just to the north and or to the west of CC looking for any leases that have slots to fill. Expect to pay a pretty penny to hunt on a lease though.
