Today I chronograph ed my standard loads out of my 7 WSM today I have a Brux 26" SS 9" twist bbl. 69grs of Re#19 behind a Hornady 139gr SST produced an average muzzel velocity of 3550 ! I couldn't believe it ? I then shot my 22 auto pistol through the chronograph and it read 1100 fps and that was what it should've been. Then my 45 auto 890 fps so was that ! So thumbs up for Brux bbls !!!!

Agree with Utah.

YOUR Brux is fast.

Although I believe your chronograph may have gotten some muzzle blast effect with these loads.

My screens were 15' away and I have a braked rifle ..... No doubt a high velocity missed shot is a miss. But these loads were under MOA .

I'd check it a couple more times just to feel sure that the readings are true.

Side note, the Horn manual that I have shows with a 24" tube and 71 grains 3300 fps.

Check it a couple more times and let us know. It'd be interesting to remove the brake and try it both with it on and with it off.

Thx
Dober

I also find it hard to believe and yes I'll check it a few more times.

I've never shot anything lighter than 162 AMAX's in my 7WSM 9 twist Broughton, good to see they shoot good groups, always thought the 139gr would be too light to group good.

Why would light bullets shoot worse than heavies?

so straighten me out. faster twists stablize heavy, long bullets, shorter , lighter bullets are not affected? They shoot good in both?

There can be some effect, but it's statistically insignificant and it's pretty doubtful you will see any difference if the real world. Especially with a 9 twist 7mm, which really isn't a quick twist (Remington uses a 9 1/4 twist in their 7mms).

For example, I have a 1 in 14" twist 223 AI, and a 1 in 8" twist 223 AI. They both shoot 40 grain Ballistic Tips at essentially the same speed, with the same loads. Both shoot really really well.

'Tis the beauty of the quick twist. There's no real downside. cool

Yep! These bullets have shot great in every 7mm bore I've put them through, though I use the TTSX instead of the non-tipped version.
