Just got this back from ER Shaw, .243 Ackley Rem700 8 twist bbl 23" long #2 contour spiral fluted throated for 105 Amax's Stock is a New Remington McMillan Hunter 60 black, 30 grey, 10 white. All SS bead blasted. Weighs 8 lbs 2 oz pictured, a bit more than I expected but balances a half inch forward of the action screw with an empty mag. Gonna send the bolt to Karl to have him put on a hunters knob and send the scope to leupold to have turrets installed.

Looks really nice, Tom. I hope to do one similar, maybe in a Classic stock rather than your Hunter.

ERS has great prices and I found very few if any bad reviews when I was looking recently.
How is the machining of the flutes, crown and finish?
Look forward to hearing how it shoots because it sure looks good.

Look forward to hearing how it shoots because it sure looks good. Machining, crown and finish all looks super, just wish the fluting was a little deeper. Oh and Chris at ERS is great to work with. Probably won't be shooting it for a few weeks as I've been playing with my new speedboat alot lately..

Yep, that sure is a nice one Tom! Be interested to see how your ERS barrel shoots and cleans, I'm thinking they'd be a decent choice for rebarrelling needs in the future...

Don't look for any guarantees on click value when you get your scope back from Leupold. Clicks could be .375-.5. You will have to determine what the click value is for yourself.

Tom, great looking rifle. I have also jumped on the 243AI band wagon, just picked mine up about 2 weeks ago from an older fella that had it as a safe queen. I also a just bought a leupy scope ( 4-14 x 44LR 30mm fine duplex) from member here tuam76 and waiting for the delivery....In mean time I am researching loads.
Mine is a trued remmy action with a hart #5-26" barrel @ 1:10 twist sitting in a MCM stock. The rifle was smithed by Thomas Fargnoli out of Naples, NY.
I would have preferred a 1:8 so I could shoot the heavier bullets but I will shoot this one out first...lol then go with a 1;8.
If you have some load data to share would love to here about it sometime... and will do the same. I am also waiting for my redding dies to show as well.
Looking forward to hear how yours shoot those amaxs

Great job Tom! Looks awesome! I'm thinking I'm going to have to order a McFlame.
Make Gitmo Great Again!! Who gave the order to stop counting votes in the swing states on the night of November 3/4, 2020?

It looks great. My 243 AI is one of my all time favs, a real killing machine.

Mr.Tom Did you have Shaw install the barrel or just ordered it from them and your smith did it?
