Is it the same profile as a 75 Hunter?

Thanks,

Sorry, that isn't too clear. Should have said that I hear the McMillan Hunter to be copies of the Sako Hunter/Tikka 65, which are practically twins. All three have the same narrow forend, if I am not mistaken.

Thanks Jpro, It appears it's only for ADL config. I was wanting to go BDL and really like the 75 stock. The Rem Hunter would prob look a bit silly with a #2 in it.

#2 and BDL says MR handle to me, but I am very partial to that pattern.

That's the one I was referring to. Sounds perfect for what I need, but the site says it's for a blind mag and I'm leaning twds a BDL. I have several ADLs, but more BDLs and tend to prefer them.

Jpro, is the McMR similar to the Classic, but with an added cheek piece? I really don't like my Classic all that much. That said, I really like my Ti stock and it seems similar to the MR?

The web-site says that the McMillan Hunter is for Savage actions in blind magazine only as it will not take the new Savage factory DBM floorplates. Any of the Remington floorplates are fine.

This is what the site says:

"This stock is a variation of our popular Sako Hunter stock design and is modified to fit most Remington 700 type and Savage blind magazine type actions. It has the sculptured Sako type pistol grip with palm swell and a Monte Carlo type butt with some cast-off. The medium narrow forearm can be inletted for barrel contours up to about a #4 Douglas size with finished shanks of 1.5" or less. Available in true right hand and left hand versions."

Sounds like it's only for blind mag to me.

Just spoke to Ryan and he cleared it up. He said I was not the first to call about the same thing, so they'll prob change the wording up. The New McMillan Hunter IS inletted for BDL.

That clears that up and it will be the stock I order. I love the Sako design, just fits me like a glove.

I'm going with the McMillan Hunter "New" with Edge fill. Ryan said I should be only a couple oz heavier than the Hunters Edge. I can live with that, it's got to fit!

Thanks guys!

I have 5 of the McMillan Hunter stocks inletted for the 700 BDL SA:

Faux LVSF in 223 and 22-250
Faux CDL-SF in 243, 257 Roberts, and 260

I also have 3 Sako/Tikka Hunter stocks inletted for the 700 BDL SA and the difference is that the Sako/Tikka style inletted for the 700 action is slightly deeper, so that part of the floorplate, just ahead of the TG bow, is recessed below the level of the stock. Not a perfect fit, but not obvious to most people. If done with a blind, ADL style, magazine, I doubt that 1% of people would see or feel the difference.

I really love the fit of this stock. Not the smallest/lightest stock, but very quick to the shoulder and a perfect balance for the 24" CDL-SF barreled actions.

I came across this thread doing research for the McMillan Hunter. I think DickD needs to add a signature line with his title. grin I got a laugh from Dick giving the low down then the next poster questioning him and calling McMillan.

In all fairness, Mcmillan offers so many options that there is only so much a website can provide. If in doubt they are great on the phone. Just hoping my Aug 4th order gets here soon.

Reloader.......

The MR does have a cheek piece but also a slimmer forend than the classic. Of the ones I have I'd compare the forend more to hunters edge/compact. The classic has a little more meat than MR.
