Looking for further information on a project gun.

I know the 99C is the removeable clip model. I've seen some 99C's that have the high-comb stock on them (which is what I want), is there a special designation for that clip model with high-comb? 99CD?

Know where any 308's like that are hiding? wink

CD is correct for the high comb stock. Search the online gun auction / sales sites for the best chance of locating one. GW

The high comb stocks also showed up on the 99C's at some point after the 99CD's were discontinued.

What time period did the 99C's start?
Is there some more desirable than others?

Started C's in 1965. CD's 1975 ended 1980. High comb on C's available after 1981. If you could find a post 1980 cut checkered stock on your cal it would be nice. Mechanics similar. GW

Long gone, and you don't want to pay for a new in box rifle for a "project". Trust me, NIB ain't cheap.

I once had one, and if I remember correctly, it was marked "99M". I also remember that monte carlo stock really beating my jaw when firing a 308 cartridge.

Mad_dog - do you think $1695 a piece is a good price? I am also looking for something like this.

I think he meant for the pair - not each. That would be my opinion!

Of course I did, I'm in Canada, I'm spoiled when it comes to Savage prices.
