Non resident with 7 bonus points-hoping to draw a good 4th season deer tag if possible, if not I will continue to build a few more points. Early season high country is also an option (have experience with high country backpack hunts).

Any opinions and thanks in advance.

Jon

7 points gives you a lot of options. Probably need to settle on what kind of hunt you really want? A drive and glass, then stalk? Hike and spot/stalk (lots of hiking), mountain migration funnel ambush(some hiking, then lots of sitting), early backcountry?

Once you decide how you'd like to hunt, that'll help narrow your options

Looking at my odds I realize I have in a way cursed myself-there are several units I could have drawn 3rd season with 3-5 points years ago. Now its now worth my 7 points-or would be a waste of my points. At the same time I need more points to draw the units worthy of my investment so it looks like I will be building a few more points before I get serious.

Thanks

Or draw one of those hunts now and then do it again in 3 or 4 years. The overall deer herd in Colorado is not really flourishing so I'd be saying go sooner than later.

Had a friend who was 49 die about a month ago as well. That factors into my attitude of if you want to do it, you'd better get with it.

I'm looking at trying to draw a 3rd season NR deer tag next year with 7 points too.
I'm thinking something in Gunnison.
I know things ain't what they used to be, but I want to hunt 'em.

Interesting timing of this topic as my brother, who has 11 non-resident points, asked my opinion of units and number of points needed. So I will ask you all, is 11 points enough to get in a really good unit, and if so, what units woukd you suggest?

Thanks
