I love wide mulies...

Unfortunately I did not have the funds to take Mark up on his offer to hunt in Washington with him this past season.

Hopefully I will have R and R next go around and I can take my rifle/bow after a mulie buck.

I need a state that has cheap or discount military tag for deer with access to public land. This is all a dream for now but I tend to achieve my dreams so hopefully...

Pictures of those great deer would be appreciated as well... wink

A wide Utah buck

I'm unaware of a state that gives military discounts to non residents unless they are stationed there.

I am pretty sure rosco is right here...if you're going Air Force then hope to be stationed out west...luckily ID, MT, WY and UT all have AF bases. I am sure several other western states do as well.

I was at Camp Lejeune, which offered incredible fishing, but the hunting sucked (I thought), even though I was granted North Carolina resident status. I had better luck chasing random critters in Iraq then I did deer hunting in North Carolina.

Shayne, start putting in for Colorado mule deer.... you've got a buddy here that'll be happy to show you a few spots.

You'd have to be stationed in Colorado to get resident pricing on hunting licenses (and you'd still have to put in for the drawing). We only do free fishing licenses to active duty nonresidents.

I'll go dig up a few pictures for you though

Not that big, but one of my favorite pictures:

And here's an odd wide whitetail in Texas that was in one of our research enclosures, though we caught him outside of it:

Nobody ever killed him during our culling operations. According to legend he was found face down in a feeder a month or so after the rut. Or someone poached him and that was his story.

Chit... I love mulies... You guys are giving me the fever more and more. Thanks grin

I am hoping to get stationed somewhere out west. Pretty cool thing about the USAF is the number of bases in the different states.

I am sure no matter what state I get stationed at I can get into some pretty good hunting if it is whitetails or mule deer.

Please refrain from posting any more photos of big mule deer. It profoundly impact my nervous system, resulting in concontrollable twitching, drooling and a sudden urge to spend money applying for tags with very low chances of being drawn.

On the other hand, if any good mulie guides/outfitters need some ink and can talk "discount," I'm your huckleberry.

And no, I have absolutely no shame... when it comes to mule deer.

That would be Mulie Fever, sir.

Your case seems worse than mine. The cure is to kill a wide mule deer with deep forks. grin
